Safari was founded on February 1st, 1995 by Knút A. S. Lützen, who served as the company’s manager until 2015. With a vision of making shipping to and from the Faroe Islands easier for local customers, he established the company with its headquarters in a 20-foot container on the dock in Tórshavn.

Today Safari is a mature enterprise based in Hoyvík. Its team includes drivers, accredited freight forwarders and apprentices, coordinators, accountants, and management. The founder Knút A. S. Lützen still serves as the CEO while Jan Slættalíð is the company’s manager.
